"I have sometimes dreamt that when the Day of Judgment

dawns-the Almighty will turn to Peter and will say when he sees us coming with

our books under our arms, 'Look, these need no reward. We have nothing to give

them here. They have loved reading.'" -Virginia Woolf

January
Thanks for having us last week Kaylene.  Beautiful Christmas decorations, yummy peppermint ice cream and a great conversation about books.  Merry Christmas to everyone . . . may you all have a wonderful holiday filled with family and friends, the Spirit of Christ, good food, warmth, joy and lots of new books under your tree.

We will meet Thursday, January 10th at Kris's house at 8 pm.  We will be discussing Killing Lincoln by Bill O'Reilly & Martin Dugard.  Kris and Nancy have the book on hold at the Hyrum Library, Kris got her hands on another copy and Kaylene has a copy she will pass around as long as she gets it back around the first of January so she can re-read it.  Let Kris know if you are ready for it.

We can do some 2013 planning so come with ideas of books, months you would like to host book club and any scheduling conflicts you know about.

Happy reading!

December
Sandy, we enjoyed visiting at your house this month. Thanks so much!  There is a copy of Silent Tears floating around now so hopefully more of you ladies will get to read it.  Our next get-together will be at Kaylene's house Thursday, December 13th at 8:00 PM.  We are reading The Sins of the Father by Jeffrey Archer.  This is actually the second book in a series called the "Clifton Chronicles" and if you want to read the first book it is Only Time Will Tell.  I hope every one has a great Thanksgiving!  We are so blessed . . .

November
Thanks Teressa for hosting bookclub last week and for the yummy treats.  I will get her recipes and get them on the blog (apples and dip, pumpkin bread, donuts and more).  I guess we are all romantics at heart - those of us who made it thoroughly enjoyed Edenbrooke.  We hope you all get a chance to read it and enjoy it as much as we did!  We hope Sandy and Kaylene enjoyed their trips and Chris - our prayers are with Stacy.  We missed you all and Kylie and Allyson too!   Sandy is hosting in November and we are reading Silent Tears: A Journey of Hope in a Chinese Orphanage by Kay Bratt.  We will be meeting Thursday November 8th at 8 PM.  See you all there . . .

October
It was so nice to see everyone again.  Thanks for having us Chris.  The ice cream was yummy and the company was entertaining. Teressa is hosting bookclub on Thursday October 11th.  We will be reading Edenbrooke by Julianne Donaldson.  See you there.

September
We will be meeting at Chris J.'s house on Thursday September 13th to discuss The Walk by Richard Paul Evans.  *Please note the date change.  We are going to try the 2nd Thursday of the month starting in September.  I am looking forward to seeing you all there . . .

The Walk (Walk, #1)
August
I'm sorry I missed the discussion about  The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks and I want to hear what you all thought about the book.  (I want you to know I did not read a single book in Hawaii but I have made up for it since I have been home!)

Thanks Nancy . . . we know your life is very crazy.  Hope you get through August with your mind intact!  We are going to skip August book club :( since everyone is so busy with reunions and grandchildren and life.  We hope to see everyone in September.

July
For those of you who got through Madame Bovary, way to go! And for those of you who didn't, that's okay too.  What a challange! Thanks for having us Kylie - next time we will know which apartment complex and which C102 or C103 is really yours and maybe be on time.  The cheesecake was great and the recipe is on the link to your right.
Nancy, hope your "fencing" is done and your eye is all better . . .
Allyson, have fun at Girls Camp.  I will be thinking about you as I am sleeping in my nice comfy bed . . .
Please note date change for July.  We will be meeting at Nancy's Tuesday July 17th at 8:00 PM to discuss The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks.  Nancy has some copies at her house.  If you still have a copy of Madame Bovary please get it to Kylie.

We have discussed changing the day we meet to the 2nd Thursday of the month starting in August.  (Anyone interested in hosting in August?)  Please weigh in and we will make a definite decision next month.
